I have been sewing and ‘playing’ with many forms of textile arts all my life and I have studied textile design (craft arts) at University of NSW.
My daughter began dancing in 2007 and it wasn’t long before I was sewing for her dance school. Since then I have made many costumes for dance eisteddfods, ice skating competitions and end of year concerts.
I am always looking for ways to increase my knowledge and sewing skills by attending workshops. I have completed courses on traditional tutu construction, stretch tutus, pleating and dyeing techniques and wired and beaded tiara construction. In 2016 I completed the Origami Tutu workshop run by Anne Thytherleigh of Tutu Couture and Stagewear, becoming one of the few people in Australia able to make an Origami tutu.
When creating a design I draw on all of these experiences to produce a unique costume that compliments the dancer and choreography.
